Toshiba was founded in 1939 in Japan by the merging of two companies in 1939 – Tokyo Denki, and Shibaura Seisakusho – this became abbreviated to Toshiba – however it was not until 1978 that the company officially renamed themselves to tthe Toshiba Corporation. With it’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, Toshiba is a multinational electronics, electrical equipment and IT corporation. By 2010, Toshiba was the world’s 5th largest PC vendor, behind only Dell, HP, Acer, and Lenovo.
